Dear Vivace Families,

I would like to share the HIMC 2021 Outreach Concert Livestream link, and greeting from HIMC 2021 competition director Catherine Wu:

Outreach Concert of Houston International Music Competition (HIMC2021)

Time: 02:30PM CST, Aug. 21, 2021

The concert will last about 3 hours (2:30-5:30PM)

With the new fall season approaching, there is much apprehension regarding the new Delta variant. COVID cases have been skyrocketing across the world at alarming rates in the last couple of weeks. As we approach this new season, the Houston International Music Competition would like to uplift and inspire hope to not only our fellow musical community, but also to everyone who may feel concerned for what is to come. The HIMC team hopes to host the Outreach Concert before the approaching school year as a way to encourage musicians and signal the start of a fresh, new beginning. We liken this fresh start as a way to show our audiences that this pandemic will not last forever- there will be a day where events will be in-person, where performances will be live, and where experiencing music will be in-the-now.

Our Outreach Concert will be on August 21, 2021 at 2:30 PM CST, live streamed on the Music Houston Youtube channel. All HIMC 2021 winners will be performing newly recorded pieces from this Summer for the Outreach Concert. Please come and join us for a musical evening to support these musicians!

At the very end of our exciting Outreach Concert, we will be announcing details about our next competition, HIMC 2022. HIMC 2022 will take place during the summer of 2022, and will be featuring an exciting program of masterclasses, performances, workshops, and more to bring the musical experience to Houston. HIMC merchandise will be sold for the first time at the competition. This year will be an experience with many firsts from the HIMC!

Applications will open on February 1, 2022, with an early bird deadline of May 14. Similar to the past year, applications will be due on May 21, and preliminary videos will be due one week later, May 28. For the time being, HIMC 2022 will be in-person, with the finals round on August 6, and the winner’s concert on August 7.

We hope you all enjoy our Outreach Concert, and look forward to HIMC 2022!
